The career orientation day themed "Begin the adventure of your life", was carried out on 21 November 2018.

Go back

At cold temperatures, on Wednesday afternoon, 21 November 2018, fourteen inquisitive students gathered at Kesselbachstrasse in front of the main entrance. After the welcome by the production manager Thomas Dietsche and the in-company trainer Michael Rutz it moved on in the conference room full of expectations. After a welcome and opening words by Ronny Peter, professional and career advisor, it immediately went to the real issues. With an animated presentation on a big screen, the company August Manser AG and its core competencies were firstly introduced to the students. Afterwards the three professions: “mechanics, production mechanics and polymechanics” were presented. Keywords such as high-tech workpieces, high-precision measuring instruments and computer-controlled machines guaranteed the attention of the potential contenders. After the revealing theoretical part it went straight into the action, into the production. The taste of metal, the roar of state-of-the-art machine tools, and all the unknown gadgets inspired the students right away. In two groups, it finally went on the factory tour. Four exciting items, operated by our specialists gave the interested students a practical insight into milling and turning, CAM programming and assembly. The Students quickly realized that things like abstract, logical thinking, ability to concentrate, accurate and thorough working, and the interest in mechanics and craftsmanship are indispensable for one of the professions presented. Enligthened from the tour, filled with a huge backpack with new impressions we went back to the conference room. Finally, the students were given the opportunity to discuss ideas and ask questions directly with our apprentices. They diligently used the opportunity to ask Batuhan Uzun a second year apprentice, Fabian Obrist a forth year apprentice and further to the first year apprentice Lukas Müggler questions. Equipped with a pocket knife, writing pad and pen, provided with sweet drinks and snacks. The day ended at four o`clock, time to say goodbye.

We look back on a successful career orientation day and would be happy to welcome one or the other interested student on a taster day.
